MusiClock - Improvisation Tool App Reviews

Nice tool thanks!

This is very clever. Im a lifelong musician who has only recently begun teaching. I have tested out a few tools that might make teaching theory easier. Most apps are disappointing. This could be used for any instrument but for guitar Im happy that the Devs included the proper notation. I gave it five stars because of its usefulness. There are some features Id like to see in future versions however: faster response on the keyboard, polyphony, and a bigger choice of backing or even the ability to create quick loops. Great job guys!

Wow am I impressed!

I just purchased this app. I have quite a few music learning apps, including apps for learning music theory. Well - I downloaded this one and I opened it up. I pressed the "play" button and some background music started to play. As the music was playing, I noticed the large wheel in the middle of my iPad screen, which indicated that the wheel was presently in the C Major scale. Of course I was familiar with the C Major scale, because as Ive said, I have other apps that teach you music and music theory. I looked below the wheel and found a set of piano keys which went from the music note of C to the music note of A. After watching a short video on YouTube I learned what to do next. So I began playing some notes on the piano keys on my iPad to go along with the background music. To my surprise, the tune I was playing sounded really good together with the background music. Nice! So, the next test is whether or not I will actually learn my scales and have fun in the process. Lord knows, I sure can use a lot of help, and Im hoping that this app will do the trick for me since my head is so clogged up with all the information after trying for so many years to learn music theory and how to play an instrument by reading sheet music. I am not good at playing by ear, maybe because I originally started to learn music in grammar school but had to stop due to circumstances. If I make good progress with this app, I will certainly update my review for those of you folks who are not sure whether or not you should purchase this app. For now, I am giving the app FOUR stars. I guess one reason is because I have only started using it, and because I would love to be able to rotate the app and view the piano keys in landscape view as well as portrait view. Hopefully, we will see the developers accomplish that for us. Until then, four stars. Thank you.

Not bad

This app is a great idea, the only complaint is that there is an H in the scale. Being a music app there should never be a H, it doesnt exist. Fix that.

Good app. A few suggestions

Ive really enjoyed jamming with this app. Its a neat approach to practicing scales. A few suggestions - Offer a metronome option for when user wants the practice without a backing track. - Guitar charts are a bit on the busy side and in their vertical format, can be hard to follow. A continuous, horizontal fretboard diagram would be a good option. - Finally, the backing tracks dont play very loudly. If possible, please increase the output volume. Kudos on a good app.

Fantastic tool

I got this free and a lot of times the free apps get deleted, however Musiclock is really useful. I’ve been playing for many years both guitar and keyboards however I never really took the time to learn the scales I was playing. I just got an upright piano and this is by far the best way to learn scales I have found. Well done!

Excellent App

As a professional musician, I offer my compliments. Also, to the reviewer who knocked a star off the review over H, you are apparently unaware that in the German system, B is for b-flat; while H is what other systems call B-natural.

Nice app

Inspired some great ideas in the first two minutes of use.

Love this

Ive been teaching my son to play guitar. This app does an amazing job of helping him learn theory while keeping him interested.

Terrific Improvisational Tool For Teachers

I want to help my piano students feel confident to make up their own melodies. This app makes trying tunes with background music so fun. And it is an excellent tool to show scales and scale patterns.

Helpful and great sounding tracks. One request: ability to adjust tempo

I love this app and often use it with my piano students when they practice their scales and Hanon exercises. Many students who have trouble following the beat of a regular metronome are able to stay with the beat of the backing tracks here. The app is super easy to use, looks great, sounds great, and is well-designed. My only wish is that the app would allow for an adjustment in tempo on the backing tracks. I have my students practice progressively faster (one click at a time on metronome speeds). So if their particular tempo isn’t represented in the backing tracks on the app, then we have to find one that is close, or just not use it at all. If there was this option, I would have all of my students get it - it is much more fun than a metronome!

Nice tool

I like this app though there may be a bug. When I set the app to accept the scale first and then index by backing track, I am not allowed to then select the key. The work around is to select the scale in order to see which tracks support that scale, then switch back to select that backing track first. I would also like a lot more backing tracks. — Al

No more crash queen!!!

Yeah, my favorite app is back.

Worked for weeks then crash

This is a great app, however I am experiencing the same issue of it crashing whenever I try to use it. I deleted the app and reloaded and still the same issue. Please fix very soon because this is a great app!

It broke!

Please fix for iPhone and iPad

Crashes

The app didn’t update with iOS 12.

My Musiclock

Still having an issue with crashing on my iPad Pro when trying to change rhythm and scales. Love the app when it is performing the way it should.

It keeps crashing

I’ve had this app for a few weeks and have used it in piano lessons. My students enjoy it. However, since yesterday, the app crashes and will only let me use o e accompaniment and screen. If I try to leave the screen, the app closes. I’ve tried reinstalling. Is there something I can do? It’s a rather expensive app that I’d like to continue to use as it’s so good for my students!

Help! App no longer working!

I have had this app for about 6 months, and it worked great until about 2 weeks ago. Now it is stuck on a single track, and whenever I hit the back arrow the app shuts down. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail, and your support page is blank. Please help!

Won’t work!!

I love this app! 5 stars all day. I have tried to email you guys but for whatever reason it won’t let me. My app will not work! Every time I try to choose a jam it force closes. Like I said amazing app just a little bug or something

SongsForTheWorld

I was happy with this app until my phone upgraded to ios12. Now every time I try to select a different scale or backing track the app closes. So I’m stuck with my last settings. Were it not for believing this is basically a good app I would have given it 1 star-which I may end up doing if Musiclock bugs aren’t worked out soon so I can access the features I paid for.

Musiclock

This app has no instructions. Can’t figure out to use it...

Makes it fun

The app does make playing scales funner for sure. Couple bits of feedback: 1. I'd like to be able to increase and decrease the metronome marking on each backing track. 2. That's the only change I can think of right now. 🙂
